Description

Cadmium sulfide is used as a pigment in the chemical industry; for manufacturing of photoresistors, optical-electronic pairs, photodiodes, solar batteries and phosphors. Single crystals of cadmium sulfide are used for the preparation of optical devices operating in the infrared regaion of spectrum. Cadmium sulfide is a direct band gap semiconductor with a band gap band from 2.42 to 2.57 eV.

Applications
Le sulfure de cadmium est utilisé comme pigment dans l’industrie chimique et pour la fabrication de photorésistances, d’outils optoélectroniques, de photodiodes, de batteries solaires et de phosphores. Les monocristaux de sulfure de cadmium sont employés dans la préparation d’outils optiques opérant dans la région IR du spectre. Le sulfure de cadmium est un semi-conducteur à bande passante directe avec un écart compris entre 2,42 et 2,57 eV.

Solubilité
Insoluble dans l’eau.

Stable dans les conditions de stockage recommandées. Incompatible avec les agents oxydants et les acides.
