Bromoethane is used in organic synthesis for the introduction of ethyl group. It is widely used as solvent, as an anesthetic in medicine and as a refrigerant. It is an important component of antiknock fluid in gasoline. It is also also used in the manufacture of pharmaceuticals like vitamin A as well as in the manufacture of flame retardants.

Le bromoéthane est utilisé dans la synthèse organique pour l’introduction du groupe éthyle. Il est largement utilisé comme solvant, comme anesthésique en médecine et comme réfrigérant.
