It is widely used as a fertilizer in agriculture, and a corrosion inhibitor being a non-oxidizing anodic inhibitor. It reduces galvanic corrosion potential, useful in industrial waste water treatment. It is recommended for treatment of whiptail in broccoli and cauliflower. It is a precursor for molybdenum.
