Rubidium nitrate is used in infrared radiation producing pyrotechnic compositions. It acts as a colorant and an oxidizer especially in decoys and illumination flares. Further, it is employed as a starting material in the preparation of other rubidium compounds and rubidium metal, which is utilized for the preparation of catalysts and in scintillation counters. In addition to this, it is used in fireworks to produce a red-violet color.

This Thermo Scientific Chemicals brand product was originally part of the Alfa Aesar product portfolio. Some documentation and label information may refer to the legacy brand.
