Description
p-Chloranil is used as a dye intermediate, oxidizing agent, vulcanizing agent and dehydrogenation reagent. It is also used to make chloranil electrodes for pH measurements. Further, it serves as a hydrogen acceptor and used for the aromatization reactions such as conversion of cyclohexadienes to the benzene derivatives. It is used to test the secondary amine. In addition to this, it is employed as a precursor to prepare diaziquone, which is used as a cancer chemotherapeutic agent.

Le p-chloranile est utilisé comme intermédiaire de colorant, agent oxydant, agent vulcanisant et réactif de déshydrogénation. Il permet de réaliser des électrodes de chloranile pour mesurer le pH. De plus, il sert d’accepteur d’hydrogène et intervient dans des réactions d’aromatisation comme la conversion de cyclohexadiènes en dérivés benzéniques. Il est utilisé pour tester l’amine secondaire. En outre, il est utilisé comme précurseur pour préparer le diaziquone, agent chimiothérapeutique intervenant dans le traitement du cancer.
Solubilité
Soluble dans l’éther et l’acétone. Légèrement soluble dans le chloroforme, le diméthylformamide, le solvant naphta, le benzène, le disulfure de carbone et le tétrachlorure de carbone. Insoluble dans l’eau, l’éther de pétrole froid, le méthanol, le phtalate de dibutyle et l’alcool froid.
