Description

ε-Caprolactam is used as a monomer in the preparation of synthetic fibers of the polyamide as well as a solvent for high molecular weight polymers. It is also used in coatings and plasticizers. Further, it is used as a cross linking agent for polyurethanes. In addition to this, it is used to prepare nylon-6, which finds application in fibers and plastics.

Applications
ε ;-Caprolactam est utilisé comme monomère dans la préparation de fibres synthétiques du polyamide ainsi quʼun solvant pour les polymères à poids moléculaire élevé. Il est également utilisé dans les revêtements et les plastifiants. De plus, il est utilisé comme agent de réticulation pour les polyuréthanes. En outre, il est utilisé pour préparer le nylon-6, qui trouve son application dans les fibres et les plastiques.

Solubilité
Soluble dans le benzène, lʼéthanol, lʼeau, le chloroforme, le méthanol, lʼalcool tétrahydrofurfuryle, lʼéther, le diméthylformamide, les hydrocarbures chlorés, le cyclohexène et les fractions pétrolières.

Remarques
Hygroscopique. Incompatible avec les agents oxydants forts et les bases fortes.
