Applications
Erythrose is an anti-cancer agent. In vitro, ∼4 mM erythrose effectively kills cancer cells for tested cell lines (in vitro), such as: lung, brain, breast and colorectal cancers. D-Erythrose inhibits tumor growth in mice (in vivo). It is used to study the mechanisms of organic micro spherule formation and Maillard (glycation) reactions.
Solubility
Fully miscible in water.
Notes
Hygroscopic. Store away from oxidizing agents and water/moisture. Keep the container tightly closed and place it in a cool, dry and well ventilated condition. Store under inert gas.
