Cesium chloride is widely utilized as a precursor for the source of cesium ions. It finds application in analytical chemistry and acts as a reagent to identify inorganic ions like aluminum, gallium and chromium by the color and morphology of the precipitate. Its radioisotopes are employed in nuclear medicine applications such as treatment of cancer and diagnosis of myocardial infarction. Occasionally, it can act as a phase transfer catalyst in selected organic reactions. It is applied in the manufacturing of electrically conducting glasses and screens of cathode ray tubes.
