Description

Benzyl Chloride is used as an intermediate for manufacturing of benzyl alcohol, benzoic acid and benzyl cyanide. It is also used to prepare benzyl esters, which are used as plasticizer, flavorants and perfumes. It acts as an intermediate in the preparation of phenylacetic acid. In organic synthesis, it is used as an alkylating agent and utilized for the introduction of the benzyl protecting group for alcohols. Further, it is involved in the preparation of quaternary ammonium salts by reaction with tertiary amines. In addition to this, it is used to prepare Grignard reagent by reacting with metallic magnesium.

Applications
Le chlorure de benzyle est utilisé comme intermédiaire pour la fabrication de lʼalcool benzylique, de lʼacide benzoïque et du cyanure de benzyle. Il est également utilisé pour préparer les esters benzyliques, qui sont utilisés comme plastifiant, aromatisants et parfums. Il agit comme intermédiaire dans la préparation de lʼacide phénylacétique. En synthèse organique, il est utilisé comme agent alkylant et utilisé pour lʼintroduction du groupe de protection benzylique pour les alcools. De plus, il participe à la préparation de sels dʼammonium quaternaire par réaction avec des amines tertiaires. De plus, il est utilisé pour préparer le réactif de Grignard en réagissant avec du magnésium métallique.
