Description
Agar is the most suited solidifying agent for scientific applications that require incubation temperatures closer to human body temperature. Agar is used as a medium in bacteriology and plant biology, impression material in dentistry, biofertilizer in organic farming, and salt bridges in electrochemistry. It can be used to measure the motility and mobility of microorganism owing to the porous nature of the gel form of an agar or agarose medium.

La gélose est l’agent de solidification le plus adapté aux applications scientifiques qui nécessitent des températures d’incubation plus proches de la température du corps humain. La gélose est utilisée comme milieu de culture en bactériologie et biologie végétale, comme matériau d’impression en dentisterie, comme biofertilisant en agriculture biologique et comme pont de sel en électrochimie. Il peut être utilisé pour évaluer la motilité et la mobilité des micro-organismes en raison de la nature poreuse de la forme de gel d’un milieu gélosé ou d’agarose.
Solubilité
Soluble dans l’eau à des températures comprises entre 950C et 1000C. Insoluble dans l’eau froide.

Une exposition prolongée à des températures élevées peut dégrader la poudre de gélose.
