Description

Adipic acid is a monomer used in the production of nylon 66 by polycondenation reaction with hexamethylene diamine. It is also used as a food ingredient and its esters are plasticizers especially in poly vinyl chloride. Further, it reacts with barium hydroxide and undergoes ketonization reaction to get cyclopentanone. In addition to this, it finds application in polyurethane foams, lubricants, adhesives, baking powder, gelling aid and in food flavoring.

Applications
L’acide adipique est un monomère utilisé dans la production de nylon 66 par réaction de polycondensation avec l’hexaméthylène diamine. Il est également utilisé comme ingrédient alimentaire et ses esters sont des plastifiants, en particulier dans le chlorure de poly/vinyle. De plus, il réagit avec l’hydroxyde de baryum et subit une réaction de cétonisation pour obtenir la cyclopentanone. En outre, il trouve une application dans les mousses de polyuréthane, les lubrifiants, les adhésifs, la levure chimique, les gélifiants et les arômes alimentaires.

Solubilité
Soluble dans le méthanol et l’acétone. Légèrement soluble dans le cyclohexane. Insoluble dans le benzène, l’acide acétique et l’éther de pétrole.
