A useful biological buffer2-Amino-2-methyl-1,3-propanediol is used to make surfactants, vulcanization accelerators and as a biological buffer. It acts as an absorbent for acidic gases and emulsifying agent for cosmetics, mineral oil, leather dressings, textile specialties and cleaning compounds. It is also used in hair sprays. It acts as a buffer for the determination of alkaline phosphatase activity and spacer in isotachophoresis of proteins. It serves as a reaction buffer for enzymes with an activity in the basic pH range such as alkaline phosphatase. Further, it is used in the preparation of 4-hydroxymethyl-4-methyl-oxazolidin-2-one.

Applications
Un tampon biologique utile2-Amino-2-méthyl-1,3-propanediol est utilisé pour fabriquer des surfactants, des accélérateurs de vulcanisation et comme tampon biologique. Il sert d’absorbant pour les gaz acides et l’émulsifiant pour les cosmétiques, l’huile minérale, le cuir, les spécialités textiles et les produits de nettoyage. Il est également utilisé dans les sprays pour les cheveux. Il sert de tampon pour la détermination de l’activité de la phosphatase alcaline et d’espaceur dans l’isotachophorèse des protéines. Il sert de tampon de réaction pour les enzymes ayant une activité dans la gamme de pH de base, comme la phosphatase alcaline. De plus, il est utilisé dans la préparation 4de -l’hydroxyméthyl-4-méthyl-oxazolidine-2-one.
