Description

(1-Hexadecyl)trimethylammonium bromide is a cationic surfactant in hair conditioning products. It acts as a phase-transfer catalyst for the preparation of polyamide, polycarbonate and polythiocarbonate. It facilitates ligand-free palladium salt-catalyzed Heck and Suzuki cross-coupling reactions in water. It is an active component of the topical antiseptic cetrimide and used in household products such as shampoos and cosmetics. As a buffer solution, it is involved in the extraction of DNA as well as in the synthesis of gold nanoparticles and silican nanoparticles.

Applications
Le bromure (1-Hexadécyl)triméthylammonium est un surfactant cationique qui intervient dans les produits de conditionnement de cheveux. Il agit comme catalyseur de transfert de phase pour la préparation du polyamide, du polycarbonate et du polythiocarbonate. Il facilite les réactions de couplage transversal Heck et Suzuki dans l’eau, sans ligand et catalysées au sel de palladium. Il s’agit d’un composant actif du cétrimide antiseptique topique et utilisé dans les produits ménagers tels que les shampooings et les cosmétiques. En tant que solution tampon, il est impliqué dans l’extraction de l’ADN, ainsi que dans la synthèse de nanoparticules d’or et de silice.

Solubilité
Soluble dans l’alcool, le chloroforme et l’eau. Légèrement soluble dans l’acétone. Insoluble dans l’éther diéthylique et le benzène.

Remarques
